Caylen came to Magpul after spending five years as a steel fabricator splitting time between work and following his passions of precision shooting and backcountry hunting. Prior to that he spent 8 years in the US Marine Corps holding almost every billet available as a scout/sniper, to include multiple roles as a sniper instructor. He has amassed over 80 weeks of formal sniper instruction in all aspects of the discipline. He has participated in three overseas deployments, awarded a combat action ribbon, and received a Purple Heart medal for a combat injury which led to the end of his military career. Caylen is a published author for several industry publications and is recognized as a subject matter expert in the areas of long range shooting and wilderness travel. He is passionate about educating anyone who wishes to learn on his experiences, and how they transcend into developing skills, perseverance, fortitude, and personal development. He spends his spare time hunting the backcountry, working on his skills as a climber and alpinist, skydiving, and spending time with his family pursuing adventure.
