Course description:

Magpul CORE’s Carbine Level 1 course is an introductory carbine training program designed to provide you with the fundamental skills of weapons manipulation and marksmanship.  Focusing on our principles of mindset, marksmanship, manipulation, and movement, you’ll have a solid foundation to build on as your training progresses.  By first starting with proper weapons manipulation techniques, you’ll move on into the fundamentals of marksmanship with challenging drills to evaluate skills and progress.

Pre Requisites:

Being an introductory carbine course, the only required skills are to possess safe weapon handling skills and a willingness to learn.

What you'll learn:

  • Carbine nomenclature, and cycle of operations. 
  • Proper preventative maintenance of the carbine. 
  • Proper carbine setup and placement of essential accessories.   
  • Zeroing and what type of zero works best for your application. 
  • Weapons manipulations to include, loading, reloading, and the reduction of common malfunctions.
  • Grip, stance and the fundamentals of marksmanship. 
  • Various field shooting positions. 
  • Introduction to the use of cover.

The gear

Gear is always of large concern with many students asking, “what is the best setup to use at a course?”  The bottom line is that the more basic your equipment is, the more effective it will be under a high-stress scenario.  Most entry-level courses turn into an equipment shake-down, with a lot of self-evaluation and tweaking to get things just right to maximize effectiveness, and minimize wasted movements.  Bring what you have, and you might be surprised at how well you run it when you leave.  

Must haves

  • A functioning carbine.
  • 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
  • Required maintenance gear and plenty of lubrication.
  • Sighting system of iron sights, red dot, or a variable magnification optic.
  • A carbine sling.
  • 6x Magazines with the ability to carry at least two on your person.
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • Proper clothing for the weather conditions.
  • Hydration plan.
  • Lunch for each training day.
